Love at first sit

Firstly, thank you to everyone for your great comments on my sweater! Its a great feeling to finish something in its entirety!
I resolved that I am just going to go ahead and try to finish Lucky instead of having it looming over my head. Then I can go on to something new!
On Sunday, we went to Chicago Cycle, and I sat on my dreambike. Take a lookie here. Now if I could just learn how to ride...
If you are in the area at all and like shiny things, you should really go to Chicago Cycle. I walked in their showroom and was instantly awed by the layout and display.

OMFG FEFI

Its 1 in the morning, and I am now completely finished with my very first, full sweater!
Its so exciting, but I couldnt wake up mike to take my picture, so here is a buttload of crappy mirror pictures in my gross bathroom. Sometimes I think the more pictures I take of something, the more excited I am..

Lookie, you can wear it open...

Closed...

You can wear it whilst looking sideways...

Or even when you're not looking!

I guess the floor can wear it too, but only if you have a sleeping dog snuggling with a blankie and bear in the background.
Well this pattern was very quick and a good starter sweater I would say. I did do some modifications, such as adding in some waist shaping (the original is just a straight waist), making the button bands larger, and getting rid of this odd little row that the pattern had. The main stripe with the green and red has one row of purling on the WS that results in this bump that I thought was wierd and unattractive. So I just left it out.
I still have about 1/2 of the main color skein left. Then I have about 3 full of the accent colors. I suppose I will use them to make hats or purses or something. I was considering making another FEFI but as of now Im really not sure yet. Its strange to yet again have a clean plate for knitting. I may go back to Lucky, or start some other projects. hrmm.. BUT something Jody from savannachik posted on Friday has my wheels turning again. Take a gander at the brown sweater. It looks awesome, but Im a little intimidated by it! There is a knitalong going on for it, so maybe I'll lurk for a while to find the inside scoop on the sweater.
Ok time for sleep. huzzah!

inneresting

Today there was a quest for buttons and stuffing. Found the buttons, but not the stuffing. Behold the perfect FEFI buttons.

They are made of coconut shell! Its the perfect mix of organic, subtle, and funky all at the same time.

Here are some photos from today around work that I thought I would share.

I donno whats up with this, but its hilarious. BEES REMOVED.

Here are 2 of the ceiling that I can't pick between.

Its going to be lurvely

I finally picked up the fair isle tonite. With our first snowfall of the year, it just felt right to turn on the christmas lights and cozy up and knit. Mike is also back from being out of town today, so all in all it was a good evening. I wanted to keep knitting until I finished the entire body, but my fingers said "no no". Sometimes they just cramp up and I have to quit. Karin's finished her fefi, go look here! I'm glad she did, because all in all its more inspiration for me to finish mine! I hope to be done uber soon, but I have to go get some buttons tomarrow. I'm shooting for this weekend, but who knows with me. Here is the much awaited progress shot. I'm loving the colors together. Slammer is just thrilled too, as you can see.

That darker color is green (old sage by brown sheep). I wasn't sure if I should go with a flash, it just drowned out all the other colors!

Dye Update

Here's how the koolaid dyed yarn turned out. Here is a blurry swatch of both versions:

I'm very happy with both. I'm not sure what to do with the more colorful one yet, but I'm sure it has a purpose. The colors are a little bit more muted than they appear to be in the photos.

In other news, I'll be finishing the FEFI sleeves tonite!

FEFI

Fairly Easy Fair Isle is pretty damn easy I would say. I was thoroughly intimidated by the fair isle sections, but I started on the sleeves tonite and it turned out well! Here are some photos of progress.

Here's where I'm at on the sleeves as of now. Very fun.

Here's what the body looks like knitted up. I believe you just add the yoke to the sleeves and body and thats it.. but I may be wrong.

A whole lotta stockinette stitch with some waist shaping and a garter stitch border.

a few quick things

last week i was very uninspired to do anything!! i did shove in some beading though, so i thought i would share that stuff now..

I still haven't touched lucky, and am considering putting that one off until the weather is right. Who knows, maybe I'll pick it up again soon. Right now, I'm more in the mood for something heavy and warm! A few days ago, I started knitting on the fairly easy fair isle and boy does it knit up quick! I forgot how fast fat yarn could build! Working on the skinny-yarned lucky was quite slower. Anyways, Karin was nice enough to email me some waist shaping info, but I already got past that point. I'm figuring if my way is drastically ugly and wrong, I'll just rip it out. It took hardly any time anyways. Sorry Karin!
Where the real scariness is going to come in is at the fair isle section. Ive never done it before and there is an error in the pattern (which Karin has fixed and listed on the knitalong site) which just worrys me. But since it is such a fast knit, I'm sure all will be well.
Today was yarn-dyeing day, and I'll get some pictures up later!
BWA! Super sonic Lauren has already posted the pics! Take a gander at our yarn dyeing experience here!!!!!!!!!!!
