Army

I finished up the armwarmer today, and have to say that I am pretty pleased with them. I made a pdf of the pattern, but I am a dummy and don't know how to resize the pattern. The instructions are pretty straightforward, so if you'd like to resize em go right ahead. These are written for x-small. Click here to download pdf!.
I also started the My So Called Scarf today and I just really am not liking the pattern. Its one of those patterns that just hurts to do. I think I am ripping it and going to try the Warm Fuzzies scarf from SnB Nation. It will be interesting cuz Ill be using slubby yarn.
Karin had a knit get together on Sunday and it was great! I got to meet lots of nice knitters and eat some awesome escarole and bean soup. I also got to meet Melissa. All in all it was a good time.
Thats about it for knitting news right now!

Whooops

Yea, sorry about deleting that last post. I am a complete moron. I made that one armwarmer, got ambitious, considered submitting the pattern for publishing, and then promptly ran out of steam. Also I completely forgot I showed progress on the armwarmer on the previous post. Duh. So for future reference, I am going to just publish the pattern here on my site and anyone who likes it can make it. Much better. Here we have the same old lovely picture. I'm at about 5" up on the other armwarmer, and absolutely can't wait to have a set. Since I have 2 skeins of yarn and a set takes about a skein, I'm gonna make 2 pair. That's how much I anticipate wearing these babies.

In other news I got some nice comments on my Lucky today, and am digging wearing it so far.
And in other REALLY EXCITING NEWS, look what came!!!

woowoo

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I got to meet the lovely Karin from 21st Century Hostess! What an awesome gal! She and Aaron even braved a classic "blizzard" to take me home! We had some wierd weather that day. Saturday was spent doing tons of errands, then finally we were off to a Califone show at the Empty Bottle. It was pretty cool, especially cuz they played some new songs. I sure do heart them. I also finished some of my goals I suppose. I seamed up Lucky, re-stuffed Slammer's bed, and finished knitting one of my arm warmers. Here are some pics.

It's so puffy, she can hardly get on the bed! She will wear it down in no time though.

Blurry unseamed armwarmer with the yarn Suzie sent me a while ago. I tried knitting these in the round and got irritated with all the needles. I'd rather just seam them up. I'll let you all know how they work out in a few days. I forgot how fast worsted weight yarn can knit up (vs 4 ply cotton for lucky)!

OMFG Lucky

I re-sewed the collar onto Lucky, and finished completely tonite! I must admit the neckband is probably still too big, but I kind of like how it hangs. I think if I wore an actual t-shirt with sleeves under it instead of a cami, it would be more snug around my neck. Since no one ever seems to be around when I finish knitting anything, I give you more crappy bathroom mirror shots!

This was a pleasure to knit, even though it seemed to take me forever. It IS the first sweater I ever started on, and the only one knit in pieces. The only thing I wished is that the waist was smaller. It is keeping me surprisingly warm in my cold house tonite, and I bet it works just as good in warmer weather too. Thanks Melissa, for all your help and a great pattern!

lucky

Last night I seamed up the sides and arms and everything. Lucky looks great, but the neckband WAS too large, and made the sweater hang like a severe 80's experiment. (they TOLD me!) I spent a while last night ripping back the seaming on the neckband, and am hoping to sew that on today and weave in all of my ends. I am very nervous about this part because i am really bad at measuring and pinning, and all my pins always slip out! I think this one may require me to sit at my dining room table and spread it all out so I can see the bigger picture. but lucky for me, it is fairly easy to undo the seaming for me. I wish I had just a few more extra hours every day to get stuff done!

whee

Hi all, I started sewing up Lucky last night! It is going really well, I spent lots of time at the ironing board blocking it just right. So far I sewed the sleeves to the fronts and backs, and have the neckband on. I did have some problem with the neckband, but I'm going to see if I can fix it tonite. Melissa warned me and I still made the mistake of sewing on the neckband too loosely! I'm going to try it on after I finish sewing, and if it affects how the piece looks, I'll redo the neckband. If it doesn't make a difference, I was thinking about picking up stitches and making the neckband longer so I can tie it. Currently its at 4" of slack, when I need 17"!! I got so tired, and decided to do the sides and arms and the rest of the ties tonite. I hope I finish!

Lucky Knitted

Believe it or not, Lucky has all of its knitted parts ready to go into seaming action. I swear, its all in this bag:

I felt only minorly relieved that it was finished, only because I am super nervous about seaming it together. I am not the best at finishing/blocking/seaming knitted items, but I figure I will just keep on taking my time and at the very least try to have it seamed up and ready to wear by the end of this week. That's a feasible goal, right? Too bad I didn't get to have today off...
I also made some Bonbon bath poufs from knitty out of my old x-back yarn that I had left over. They seem like they are going to work out nicely! A very easy and fast stash depleting knit.

Ive decided to set a few goals for this week, including restuffing and adding a zipper to slammers bed, sew up lucky, make some armwarmers with an impromptu pattern, and to do a few more poufs possibly.

...

I finally have something to show for myself, though it's not saying much compared to the amount of time I've had to work on it. What a wierd few weeks its been. The holidays went very well for me, smooth as can be. We also had a pretty good new years. I had some kind of virus that knocked me out for about a week, though I forced myself to go to work (as much as I could). I'm still feeling the effects of it though, and its been since last monday night. Hopefully it will clear out of my system soon, but seriously, it was WAY worse before. I got to do very little knitting, partially because all my spare time was spent sleeping. But I did manage to finish up Lucky's sleeves. All thats left is those dang little strippy things. I'm sure I'll stall on those too. Here is lovely proof.

I was reading through Lucky's finishing instructions and it seems that the sewing of the strippy side band thing might be a little complicated/confusing. Perhaps crafster has some kind of forum on that!
I've also decided that I am going to use up all of my stash yarn before starting anything that requires buying yarn. For me this entails a lot more small projects such as potholders, poufs, socks, and such. So there may not be much more exciting projects coming soon, but hopefully it will be something. I do have a large bulk of white cotton ease which I am still deciding what to do with, so who knows?!
Over Christmas I did start working on another one skein wonder, which may end up getting ripped out for something more suitable. This skein has a lot of yarn on it and I would like to use it to its full potential.

Lately Ive felt like Ive got a sewing bug too, so there may be more of that possibly, as soon as Mike gets his giant 1,000 piece photomontage puzzle off of the dining room table!
