colorado

Firstly, geez thanks for all your nice comments on my hair. I was really nervous to dye it but I figured I could just dye it back if I didnt like it! So far it kind of does seem that blondes have more fun... Anyways, back from Colorado! We had a great time. We took sooo many pictures, but I scrapped it down to a few photos that I've uploaded as a set on flickr. Click here to view!!
Basically we got there Thursday, did lots of driving around and sightseeing. Friday we did 2 bike rides, one at Heil Ranch and one at Hall Ranch. They were both spectacular, and we managed to dodge all the rain that came in somehow. Then we went to visit Collin and Danielle. They are super nice hosts and handle our "enthusiastic jibberish" very elegantly. Thanks!
Saturday, hellbent on "taking it easy"we looked at a map and decided Pawnee Pass would be a fun way to have an easy hike and see the continental divide at the same time.. err ... except that the trail was much longer than we knew. Fourish hours later we peaked a pass, and saw that there was at least another hour of hiking ahead of us. Not having enough food stuffs to fuel the trip up and being incredibly tired, we sadly turned around and hiked back to the car. After five hours I became slightly delirious and was working on autopilot. Thank god it is a highly traveled path, otherwise I would have lost my mind, not seeing other people around. Six hours later we made it back to the car and never felt more terrible (but yet so accomplished somehow). After some good pizza and sleep and showers and drink, we felt much better.
Sunday we wanted to bike, and decided to do Halls Ranch again. This time we did the entire circuit and it was even better the second time around.Feeling satisfied with the ride, we drove out to Estes Park to visit the wool and sheep festival that Michelle recommended to me (thanks!) and saw neat alpacas and lovely yarns (that I didnt buy because remember, IM DESTASHING) and also a border collie show. Good times were had by all.
Then we decided that dammit, we were going to see the continental divide. We decided to drive up 36 to 34 and went through Rocky Mountain National Park to see it. It was such an impressive drive. I was basically gripping the seat the whole time, I was pretty nervous. But we did see the actual point where water flows in opposite directions. It was beautiful!
After that it was work work work packing the bikes up and getting sleep. Now its time for work. Not exactly the best follow up to a great trip, but thats life!

So exciting, Im gonna blog about it.

Ok remember how I've been wanting to learn granny squares for 1000 years? Well after a few new lessons from the snb crochet book, I finally learned how to do them!!! OMG!
This is just done in kitchen cotton and is sopping wet and blocking. LOOK!
grammy
Its not absolutely perfect but its there! Something wierd about these is that it takes up sooo much yarn. But in that case, its perfect to get rid of all these leftovers and acrylic newbie stuff.

Snuff, or what I've been up to.

Very little knitting being done in these here parts. Still trying to somewhat plan the colorado trip, and get things straight. Also biking incessantly trying to get in shape for the mountains. I've been very addicted to this bike tour blog as of late and it has helped keep me somewhat sane in a busy and annoying time. I thought I would share some pics with you of the little knitting I do have right now.

Beginning of Orangina, done with the painful yarn. This one is slightly on hold for pain reasons.

A dark pic of Hedera from knitty, being done in koigu.

Re-learning crochet from the Happy Hooker book. I have been single crocheting wrong my whole life. Well at least the last few years.
