Time for yoga

The Om Yoga Mat bag is done! I am such a dummy for doing this, but I stitched the sides of the bag together on the wrong side! So the seam is on the outside of the bag! Oh well, it actually doesn't look too bad, because I actually took the time to learn mattress stitch, so it is a neat little ridge that forms the seam instead of my usual jargon of stitches. I am going to make another one for myself, this version is for Mike's bag. It was a pretty fun and quick project and is a nice way to have your bag in something that lets it air out a little.

The destashing is chugging along, I daresay!

Hi y'all. I had a grueling weekend, of a long hike on Friday (with our lazy dog), then a super frustrating and difficult mountain bike ride on Satuday. Today, needless to say, was a day of rest! The fun part though was on Friday, I got to see a lot of wild onion sprouting up, some very nicely grown already, which is always a nice reassuring sign that spring is here to stay. Here is a wierd plant we saw hiking, and another hiking photo.

I got to do some more work in the garden, which is really really gratifying. I can't say enough how nice it is to have a yard. I've done some mulching since I've taken pictures, so that way I won't lose water as fast. Here are the pics! I can't remember what all I have sprouting, I'll try to make a list, and by the way, I managed to get all organic seed!

-Fargo Yellow Pear tomatoes
-Imur Prior Beta tomatoes (specifically suited for high altitude gardens!)
-Hungarian Yellow Wax peppers (has anyone tasted these?)
-Wadenswiler onions
-Russian Mammoth sunflowers
-Chives
-Italian dark green parsley
-Sugar snap peas
-Sage
-Genovese basil
-Lavendar
-Marigolds
-California Poppies
-Cosmos

Ok I think that is it. I am trying to get my hands on some Cilantro as well as Epazote. I will have to find it already sprouted though, I beleive.

So lets get down to business. I know you're all here for the crafty anyways: Quilty-poo is done! Please don't pay attention to how the squares don't line up and the border is uneven, and how there is not really any quilting stitchwork in it whatsoever. It keeps me warm, and that's all I care about. I put a big piece of felted wool as the insides, and sewed that to the front. Then I sewed on a piece of jersey fabric as the backing. Yay, easy, and a lot of my fabric is used up now.

Then I wanted to show my progress on the Yoga Mat bag. It looks perty! I haven't been knitting on it much lately. I have about 10 more inches to go or something like that.

Firstly, some photos from the weekend I forgot to put up:

Cute flowering cacti at the Florrisant Fossil Monument.

Old petrified redwood at Fossil Monument. Mike is in background for somewhat of a scale.

Bridge at the Royal Gorge.

View down at the gorge river. Eek!

Then lookit the loot Rossana from knittish sent! So much goodies! The hello kitty stuff and tape measure are from Hong Kong. Then she got me some sock yarns and good tea! Woo!!

Then finally, I did some sewing yesterday. I sewed in some batting on the quilt I am making (which for me, batting is a giant piece of felted wool that I had), then pinned the backing on. The backing is made of some jersey cotton material I had. Pics to come when its finished!
Then I decided to try my hand at some pajama pants. I used some more jersey tshirt material I had, and traced a favorite pair of existing pajama pants. I also used a drawstring method, though I think the waist is too wide and short (I pulled them way up in the photo to spare you). Its ok to have low rider pj pants though. And the bunching around the waist doesn't bother me, so its all good! I'd like to do a little print on these but I don't know what to make a stamp of. Any ideas? I love hilarious pj pants.

Hug Shrug

The Hug Shrug is soo comfy!! My only beef is that I wish the color was more universal so I could wear it with everything!
I have 1.5 skeins left, I think I'm going to have to make some fingerless mitts out of it. Cashmerino is so soft!

wonky weather

Well the ice storm came and went, defrosted, and now there is more snow! I guess it is not so bad since all the little seedlings I have growing are indoors. I sure do feel for those poor farmers though. If you ever pick up a peach and think, geez thats expensive, just remember this month and you'll know why...
When the cold broke, we went for a hike at Waldos Canyon near Manitou Springs for a few hours and it was perty. Here is a fuzzy crocus. Click the fuzzy crocus for more fuzzy croci and hill views.

On a more upbeat note, yay! ChicKnits featured my Ariann on her blog! How flattering!
I've been slowly working on Hug, and started the Om Yoga Mat bag. Here are some sorry progress pictures.

Hug!

Yoga bag. I started and finished the strap, then cast on and knit 2 rows. I haven't really touched it since...

Ice Storm

Ice storm photos here!
I am also working on a quilt this weekend. I have no idea when it will be done since I start work on Monday! Pics to come soon.
