Frozen pastry-puff dough's got nothin on this.
I have been craving Hema's Kitchen samosas since before we even moved to Colorado Springs. It hit me so bad last week, I decided to cave in and make a recipe I had in a vegetarian cookbook. Except that the recipe called for store bought frozen pastry puff dough. Umm so I go to the store and look at the nutritional info. FIVE grams of trans fat per sheet. I immediately tossed them and said "screw it, I will make my own". I generally like to make my own dough anyways, but didn't have a recipe that used home-made dough.
Then I found this recipe. So I made them and ohmygod, they are even BETTER than Hema's, I could not believe it. Of the 16 I made yesterday, 4 are left. I was even contemplating how I could incorporate them into breakfast. Here are some pics:

Yummy innards. I had baked these for lunch today, I couldn't get any shots yesterday that didn't look gross because of the lack of natural light.

Yummy pea, potato and onion filling with aromatic spices. MMM.

Awaiting the fryer.

I found this substitute for making chutney at the store, chipotle/raspberry dip. It was really good. Hemas usually has this green minty hot sauce and the raspberry dip. I was cravin that raspberry, but it looks like chutney is a lot of work to make.
Then a few days ago I finally made those blueberry cupcakes. The frosting called for maple sugar, which was really expensive, so I just put some brown sugar in there. Besides it being a little grainy, its really good. The only thing I didn't like about the cupcakes was it uses lemon zest, and I usually don't like how that tastes in baked stuff. I think the recipe is either from Gourmet or Bon Appetite, and they were called "Blueberry Hill Cupcakes".

Group shot.

Nice and juicy innards.
Finally, a first sprout from my herbs. I think this may be basil since it sprouted on the plate first.
